Existing Condition

Site

We appointed a professional team of planners and architects to advise us of the best way to increase our stadium capacity to 30,000. The following constraints and opportunities were identified.

Constraints

1. Existing Putney stand fills the site between pitch and boundary.
2. Existing Hammersmith stand fills the site between pitch and boundary.
3. Spectators’ concourse facilities very limited.
4. River walk stops – pedestrian route returns to Stevenage Road.
5. Single aspect access and egress.
6. Limited ecology to river wall and foreshore.
7. Existing Riverside stand: very limited facilities and capacity.

Opportunities

1. Major opportunity to complete the River walk.
2. Riverside Stand is the most appropriate to develop.
3. Johnny Haynes stand – listed building to be retained and respected.
4. Listed Craven Cottage to be retained and respected.
5. Improve listed turnstile access and egress.
6. Reduce pre and post match pedestrian numbers on Stevenage Road.
7. Ecological improvements to riverside.
8. Reduce floodlight pollution / removal of floodlight masts.
